Unrefined
whole grain food products are hard to find.
Diabetics know all too well the difficulties of management associated
with carbohydrates (except for fiber).
These difficulties have given credence to the “low carb” trend and the
ideas of “carb counting.” These ideas do
have a practical short term basis. But
they are flawed because they conceal and are a cheap substitute for the fact
that almost all carbohydrate products on the market, including whole grains,
are in fact refined carbohydrates or processed foods. Herein lies the true problem behind the
“carbohydrate problems” that diabetics and obese persons experience. Low carbs are not a bad idea and for
diabetics it may be necessary, but
“low carbs” should the “right carbs.” When low carbs are simply less of the same
refined or processed junk they only offer short term benefits. Discover if you will how powerful of a nutrition
resource fresh grains and fresh stone ground grains can be even when taken in
small quantity.
I have
developed this page as a guide not only for those who are interested in using
fresh whole grains or to grind them fresh, but also for those who wish to apply
Dr. Johann Georg Schnitzer’s knowledge contained in his books. The following web links are provided as a

Books
While many
books exist on the subject of whole grains, Dr. Schnitzer’s books on the
subject remain unparalleled among his contemporaries and his books are among
the few written from the perspective of a medical professional, nutrition
researcher, and most importantly -- personal experience. The best resource I can offer you on the
subject of whole grains can be found here:

Whole
Grains
Whole
grains can be found only in health food stores, mostly those that are not owned
by large chains, some progressive or health supermarket chains, or by mail
order through the internet. Health food
stores can be found in most communities, should they not carry the grains, they
could probably special order them. Whole
grains are relatively inexpensive (approx. $1.00/lb or $2.50/person/week.)
